Thomas Edison, one of my favorite superachievers of all time, not only denied being a genius, re redefined the term when he said. "True genius is 1 percent inspiration." If I use his definition rather than an IQ measurement, then every superachiever I have ever known is a genius, the good news is anyone can become a genius.
YOU HAVE SKILLS, but don't have most skills. Here again, the entertainment industry gives us a perfect example of this truth. While Steven Spielberg is arguably the greatest film director and producer of our generation, the next time you watch one of his films, notice how many credits follow the movie's end. While Steven is a master storyteller and director, nearly every one of those 300 to 600 credits identififes someone who performed a skill that Steven does not beeen superly performed, his film would have not turned out as well. If steven Spielberg doesn't have most of the skills required to achieve any of his dreams, what would make you or me think that we have all of the skills we need to achieve our dreams?. We don't. the great news is that, every skill we would ever need to achieve any of our dreams is possessed by someone else, and therefore can become available to us.
YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO KNOW HOW to achieve you dreams and aspirations, but do those things that are critical to the success of a project or fulfillment of a dream. What does barbering or banking have to do with finding oil and building an oil empire? Frank Phillips had none of the skills critical for doing either, yet he did both. Hellen Keller could neither see nor hear, and yet she became one of the most inspirational writers and speakers of the twentieth century.
Nearly everyone I have read about has mistakenly thought that if they want to achieve something they must at least know how to do those things that are critical to the succes of the project or endeavour. Nothing could be further from the truth, I know a man that know nothing about retailing fitness equipment, and yet started a fitness company that sold nearly $1 billion worth of equipment. Never turn your back on a project, opportunity, or dreams, simply because you do not know how to perform the elements necessary to succeed in the project, seize the opportunity to achieve the dreams.
